Learning French—and French Cooking—with Le Chef

I’m continuing to work on my new project: Le Chef et La Bonne Femme. I plan to post a few videos of French Chef David Baruthio cooking in his kitchen in Baru 66. Thing is, although his English is quite good for a non-native speaker, I am tempted to have him narrate some of his basic techniques in French. As in this video, where he is cutting cabbage:

Why not in English? Frankly, it’s a see-and-do kind of video—what he’s doing is kind of obvious, right? But it’s a lot of fun—for those of use who like French food and the French language—to listen to him as he narrates what he’s doing. Perhaps students of the language can pick something up, too.

What do you think? English or French? How about if I have him speak French when he’s doing something that’s easy to follow, and have him speak English when he’s doing something more complicated?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this….If you prefer, post your response on my Facebook page.
