Proposed firehouse remodel, as seen on the Des Moines Social Club Website.

Exciting news! Straight from a press release sent from Orchestrate’s press contact, Christopher Diebel:

ORCHESTRATE HOSPITALITY ANNOUNCES LEASE AGREEMENT WITH DES MOINES SOCIAL CLUB
The Renovated Fire House Restaurant Will Add To Western Gateway’s Entertainment District

Downtown Des Moines – The culinary team behind Centro, Django, Gateway Market and Zombie Burger + Drink Lab have announced they signed a formal lease agreement with the Des Moines Social Club to become the anchor retail tenant of their new home at the soon-to-be-renovated downtown firehouse.

The space will be approximately 6,000 square feet. It will feature patio seating along Mulberry and have access to The Social Club’s courtyard just behind the main building. The restaurant will complement the organization’s art gallery and coffee shop currently planned for the remainder of the main floor.

Orchestrate’s Paul Rottenberg has once again teamed up with award-winning Chef George Formaro to devise a concept for the space. Since signing the lease, the restaurateurs have begun assembling their team to hone the development process. Longtime creative collaborators Chris Diebel (LPCA Public Strategies) and Chris Conyers (The Design Group) will work with the Orchestrate team to develop the brand. Parachin Design Studios, the Chicago-based architectural firm responsible for Django, Gateway Market and Zombie Burger + Drink Lab, will manage the interior design process. Local art consultant, Liz Lidgett, has been tapped to curate the restaurant’s art installations.

The Western Gateway’s culinary scene continues to grow, making it a go-to spot for corporate clientele and evening revelers alike. “We are excited to add a new twist to the area’s thriving culinary scene,” says George Formaro. “As we refine the concept, we will work hard to fulfill a unique place in the market that appeals to a wide range of diners looking for quality food and a fun environment,” he adds.

One of the things we look for when developing a restaurant concept is interesting architecture that adds to a facility’s character,” explains Paul Rottenberg, noting that Centro and Django are each located in historic structures. “The firehouse offers an opportunity to create something new and exciting within a historic structure that adds to the fabric of our community.”

“The purpose of the social club is to provide art and entertainment for all walks of life. Orchestrate’s new restaurant helps us expand our mission to all audiences,” says Des Moines Social Club Executive Director Zachary Manheimer. “Guests will be able to grab a drink and wander the art gallery, or eat dinner and catch a show. It adds a major component to the user experience and we couldn’t be happier with the arrangement.”

Orchestrate’s new restaurant will open in the spring of 2014. It will be open daily, with brunch and late night offerings on the weekends. More information on the concept will be released later this year.
