Introducing: Man Eats Des Moines

Exciting News to Share: I have invited a Des Moines food-lover, who uses the pen name, Man Eats Des Moines, to post his observations about local dining on my All Things Food DSM Page.

Man Eats Des Moines is a veteran diner and great fan of the Des Moines dining scene (he eats out about 3 to 4 nights a week!). He has shared so many great finds with me in the past few years that I asked him to join the management of the page. He’ll also post occasional guest reviews on the “Dining in Iowa” section of this blog.

Why is he posting anonymously? Two reasons: He doesn’t want special treatment at restaurants. He and his spouse are also a somewhat high-profile couple in town—they’d rather keep this side of him under wraps.

I like to think of Man Eats Des Moines as “the man on the street—with great taste, an open mind.” Here’s what Man Eats Des Moines has to say about his approach.

• I enjoy eating. And I enjoy eating out. It’s a very rare occasion when I find an eating experience that I truly do not like. It could be ordinary or exotic. I’ll be a happy diner every time as long my food is well-prepared, delivered without undue delay, and brought to me by a server who knows what he/she is doing.

• I love local restaurants. I WANT local restaurants to succeed. I WANT to like them all. And that’s the attitude with which I approach my dining experiences.

• I love new foods, new combinations. But I also love the good ol’ standbys that are done really, really well. I do, however, tire of re-worked/re-named versions of the same ingredients/same dishes from one place to the next.

So, that’s Man Eats Des Moines. Look for his posts, coming soon, to All Things Food DSM on Facebook.

PS: You can rest assured that Man Eats Des Moines is NOT my husband, Mr. Sportcoat.
